Postscript
- By Cecelia Ahern
Postscript by Cecelia Ahern is about Holly, the protagonist of the story who is a part a club; P.S. I Love You Club whose members are people with terminal illness who wish to write letters for their loved ones. She lost her husband, Gerry due to terminal illness and isn't able to get over it for years together. Gerry has written ten letters for her during his final days. She reads the letters after his death. She relives 'their life' through the letters. The letters are his way to be in her life forever.
Ciara, Holly's sister, wants Holly to share this in a podcast and a group of people suffering with terminal illnesses listen to the podcast and are touched with the feeling of writing letters for their loved ones. They want Holly to help them do this. They want her to help them to live in the memories of their loved ones after they are gone. Initially Holly is very reluctant to do this as all of this may cause her to go through the trauma of Gerry's death again. But after a lot of thinking she agrees to do it. She helps Paul, Bert, Ginika to write their letters. Her journey with each of them during their last days and being there for them is an emotional read.
Members of the club pass away one after the other due to illness and that's when Holly realises that this has been a remarkable journey and that helping someone to write letters and be memorable, gives her a feeling of being worth for someone and wishes to continue doing it.
Cecelia Ahern has done a wonderful job with the characters, choice of words, expressions and the story.
P. S.: Must read for fiction lovers.
